3D RARE Radial xSPEN and Inverse Radon Transform based reconstruction for Single-Sided MRI
Motivation: Develop a spatiotemporal encoding method which can flexibly change FOV without aliasing in an inhomogeneous magnetic field for single sided MRI. Goal(s): Develop a comprehensive protocol with a fully 3D, cross-term spatiotemporal encoding (xSPEN) pulse sequence and associated reconstruction for a single sided scanner with inhomogeneous B0 and B1 fields. Approach: Use a RARE (Rapid Acquisition with Relaxation Enhancement) radial xSPEN sequence to rapidly collect profiles of the subject along in-plane angles and slices, and apply a radon-based inversion calculation for reconstruction. Results: Images with no Fourier encoding were produced and could be reconstructed to a higher resolution without aliasing. Impact: This method is applicable for 3D imaging in an inhomogeneous magnetic field at higher resolution compared to traditional Fourier encoding by cropping the FOV without aliasing.
