Association between choroid plexus features, AD pathology, and cognitive impairment in non-demented participants: a longitudinal study

Motivation: Choroid plexus (ChP) disruption may contribute to the progression of Alzheimer's disease (AD). Goal(s): To explore whether ChP structural features are associated with AD pathology and cognitive decline. Approach: Volumetric, shape, and texture ChP features were extracted for correlation and mediation analysis. Longitudinal analysis was performed using a linear mixed model. Results: ChP features were associated with AD pathology, mediated its relationship with cognition, and predicted cognitive decline over time. Impact: Our findings provide a detailed description of ChP structural alterations due to AD pathology, potentially leading to cognitive impairment over time in patients with AD.
