Evaluating Tumor Features and Invasion in Non-melanoma Skin Cancer by High Resolution MRI

Motivation: Conventional skin tumor examination shows inherent limitations in accurately assessing tumor depth. HR-MRI offers superior soft tissue resolution and a comprehensive evaluation of skin cancer. Goal(s): The study was to assess the value of HR-MRI in preoperative evaluation of non-melanoma skin cancer. Approach: Patients confirmed by pathological as non-melanoma skin cancer were enrolled, and a subset underwent HR-MRI. Chi-square test was employed to compare tumor invasion levels evaluated by HR-MRI and pathological findings. Results: Skin HR-MRI effectively reduce the rate of secondary surgeries, highlighting its clinical utility. Impact: This study demonstrates that HR-MRI effectively evaluates tumor features and invasion levels in non-melanoma skin cancer, enhancing preoperative assessment accuracy and potentially reducing the need for secondary surgeries, thereby improving patient management and surgical outcomes.
