Effect of Impaired Glymphatic system on the Short-term Prognosis of Patients with Acute Ischemic Stroke: A Clinical Study Based on MRI Indices

Motivation: Research has shown that the glymphatic system is impaired in stroke patients, but its pattern of changes remains unclear. Goal(s): Combine the DTI-ALPS index and perivascular space volume to explore the short-term changes in the glymphatic system after acute ischemic stroke and their impact on neurological function. Approach: The NIHSS score was used to assess neurological deficits in AIS patients at 24 hours, 7 days, and 3 months after treatment. MRI was used to quantify the DTI-ALPS index and PVS volume. Results: A higher ALPS index and early recovery of local PVS volume were closely associated with improved neurological function. Impact: Exploring the dynamic changes in the brain's glymphatic system after stroke helps deepen the understanding of stroke mechanisms and contributes to research aimed at improving recovery in ischemic stroke patients.
