Surface-based Analyses Indicate Distinct Cortical Thickness and Functional Alterations in Parkinson's Disease Accompanied by RBD
Motivation: The clinical manifestations and prognostic outcomes of Parkinson's disease(PD) patients with and without the REM sleep behavior disorder(RBD) exhibit significant variability and voxel-based morphometry method has many limitations. Goal(s): Identifying specific alterations in brain structure and function in PD associated with RBD. Approach: Cortical thickness and functional parameters were processed using surface-based morphometry. Results: PD with probable RBD exhibited reduced cortical thickness in STGa and RI, and abnormal fALFF and ReHo in visually and associatively activated brain regions. Impact: Surface-based morphometry reveals partially significant differences in brain structure and function between PD individuals with and without RBD. This analysis provides remarkable imaging evidence supporting the specificity of PD with probable RBD.
