Model-based Analysis of Renal Dynamic Glucose Enhanced (DGE) MRI
Motivation: This study addresses the need for precise, region-specific assessment of glucose uptake in the kidney, aiming to enhance understanding of renal physiology and pathology through improved DGE MRI. Goal(s): The goal of this research is to measure a full Z-spectrum at sufficient temporal resolution combined with model-based analysis techniques. Approach: We applied a modified Bloch-McConnell equation fitting approach, using MRI data from a wildtype mouse with controlled glucose infusions, to capture regional glucose dynamics in renal tissues. Results: The adapted model successfully quantified glucose uptake in distinct kidney regions, achieving consistent amplitude patterns over time and highlighting region-specific glucose distribution. Impact: This work provides a refined method based on Bloch-McConnell fitting for quantifying renal DGE MRI data, enabling clearer insights into renal function and pathology. It opens new pathways for studying regional kidney metabolism and renal diseases.
