Clinically Integrated MRI-QSM Analysis & Reporting System to Establish Brain Tissue Iron Levels in Pediatrics

Motivation: Quantitative Susceptibility Mapping (QSM) is emerging as a new biomarker in MRI iron measurement with novel applications in brain imaging. However, acceptance of QSM as a standardized clinical tool requires establishing normal values and clinical integrated reporting. Goal(s): Create a standardized and clinically integrated QSM workflow to establish normal/abnormal iron-load measurements reporting in atlas-transformed brain regions within a pediatric patient population. Approach: We developed a system that automates the identification, processing, and reporting of QSM MRI data into PACS. Results: More than 2000 patient exams have been processed, allowing for the establishment of brain region-specific normal QSM values across pediatric age-groups. Impact: We developed an image processing orchestration system that automates the identification, processing, and reporting of QSM MRI data into PACS.
