Non-Invasive Assessment of Early Myocardial Damage in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus by Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance Diffusion Tensor Imaging

Motivation: The pathogenesis of early myocardial injury in type 2 diabetes is complex. Moreover, the value of CMR-DTI in evaluating the nascent stage is uncertain. Goal(s): aim to Explore the application value of CMR-DTI in early myocardial damage of T2DM. Approach: Perform CMR-DTI imaging on diabetes and control groups and analyze differences in left ventricular function parameters, myocardial tissue characteristics and DTI parameters. Results: The two groups show diffusion distinction in the overall left ventricle, different slices, and different walls to varying degrees. cDTI can be used to assess primary myocardial impair in T2DM patients. Impact: In initial-phase patients with T2DM, CMR-DTI reveals diffuse changes of varying degrees in the left ventricle. Diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) can provide high diagnostic sensitivity for these patients.
