The relationship between memory impairment in obese people and altered brain entropy
Motivation: Obesity significantly increases the risk of various diseases and negatively impacts quality of life. Goal(s): In this study, we utilized resting state functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) data to analyze brain entropy (BEN) in individuals with obesity compared to healthy controls. Approach: 23 obese patients and 36 age- and sex- matched volunteers underwent the fMRI scan. We focused on BEN analysis to identify different brain regions and used BMI to study the relationship between BEN values of different regions and MQ scores. Results: The results indicated that individuals with obesity exhibited increased BEN in multiple brain regions. Impact: Our findings underscore the neural basis of memory impairment in obesity, providing critical insights that may inform future interventions.
