Study on the Mechanism of Cognitive Impairment in NMOSD Patients Mediated by the Reorganization of FC Related to Iron Metabolism Abnormalities

Motivation: The mechanisms of cognitive impairment in NMOSD patients are not yet clear. Goal(s): To investigate how abnormal iron metabolism reorganizes functional connectivity networks and correlates with cognitive impairment using combined QSM and rs fMRI. Approach: Participants underwent QSM imaging to assess DGM iron concentration and rs fMRI for brain network analysis. Results: Higher iron concentration in GPe may affect its communication with the right precentral gyrus and is associated with cognitive impairment in NMOSD patients. Impact: This study provides a new perspective on elucidating the neural mechanisms of cognitive impairment in NMOSD patients through the combined use of QSM and rs fMRI techniques.
