A Longitudinal Analysis of MRI-Based Radiomics of Trabecular Bone Surrounding Total Hip Arthroplasty
Motivation: Radiographic texture features have successfully identified differences in osteoporotic bone of total hip arthroplasty (THA) patients but no existing investigations have evaluated MRI-based texture of THA asymptomatic patients. Goal(s): To quantify and evaluate changes in MRI-based radiomic features of asymptomatic THA patients across four timepoints. Approach: The homogeneity, orderliness, and correlation of femoral trabecular bone texture was calculated in the proximal Gruen zones of patients with THA in four follow-up susceptibility reduced MRIs. Results: The homogeneity, orderliness, and correlation of femoral trabecular bone texture was calculated in the proximal Gruen zones of patients with THA in four follow-up susceptibility reduced MRIs. Impact: Image texture analysis may provide a quantitative measurement of trabecular bone abnormalities in asymptomatic THA patients, indicating an individual's risk of post-surgical induced osteoporosis.
