Time-Dependent Diffusion MRI Parameters for Non-invasive Assessment of PARVA Expression in Breast Cancer

Motivation: PARVA has emerged as a novel prognostic indicator in breast cancer stromal regions, but non-invasive assessment of this biomarker remains challenging. Goal(s): This study aims to investigate whether time-dependent diffusion parameters correlate with PARVA expression in breast cancer. Approach: Advanced DWI parameters (DKI, S-index, sADC) were estimated at multiple diffusion times (5-27.6ms) on breast cancer PDX mice models and compared with PARVA immunohistochemistry. Results: S-index, sADC and Kurtosis allowed to classify lesions as positive or negative for PARVA expression with high accuracy across all diffusion times. Impact: Advanced DWI parameters (Kurtosis, S-index, sADC) enables non-invasive assessment of the expression of biological markers linked to stromal organization in breast cancer.
