Impaired glymphatic system, accelerated brain aging, and their interconnections in ischemic stroke patients within one week

Motivation: to understand the interplay between glymphatic system dysfunction and accelerated brain aging after ischemic stroke Goal(s): comprehensively assess glymphatic function and its relationship with brain aging and neurological outcomes in stroke patients Approach: Sixty stroke patients and 68 healthy controls underwent MRI and clinical evaluations to analyze glymphatic metrics and brain age differences Results: Stroke patients showed reduced brain blood flow, accelerated aging, and glymphatic dysfunction, with significant correlations between these factors and increased neurological impairment Impact: the study give a new perspective on stroke that Ischemic stroke impairs glymphatic system function, which may contribute to accelerated brain aging during the early period
