Duplicate and Similar Questions Pair Detection using Natural Language Processing

The proliferation of user-generated content on the internet, particularly in the form of questions on platforms such as Stack Overflow and Quora, presents a significant challenge in identifying duplicate or near-duplicate queries. Research indicates that up to 40 percent of questions on Quora and 30 percent on Stack Overflow are duplicates or similar, highlighting the need for effective methods to manage this issue. Duplicate questions can lead to redundant information, complicate search engine results, and degrade the user experience, making it difficult to find specific, accurate answers. In response to this challenge, natural language processing (NLP) techniques have been employed to detect duplicate questions within datasets. The application of NLP algorithms for duplicate question detection not only enhances dataset quality and user experience on knowledge-sharing platforms but also has broader implications for improving search engine results and minimizing dataset redundancy.
