The Role of Robotics in Shaping Modern Digital Pathology Workflows

The use of robotics in digital pathology has slowly but surely changed how diagnostic labs work. As healthcare systems come under more and more pressure toget findings quickly and accurately, many pathology departments are using robots to do activities that used to be done by hand and take a long time. This overview looks at how robotics is being employed right now in places including tissue processing, slide preparation, image scanning, and specimen storage, and how these uses are changing the way labs function and the health of patients. We did a full review of articles from 2013 to 2024 using PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science. The research looked at all show the same thing: robots helps cut down on mistakes, speeds up sample handling, and makes it easier to report from a distance. Laboratories who have switched to these technologies also say that their turnaround times are faster and their people and facilities are used more efficiently. Progress in robotic systems linked with AI has revealed considerable upgrades in diagnostic accuracy and workflow effectiveness, with some research facilities claiming a cut in processing times by as much as 40% together with improved uniformity in procedural guidelines. These shifts show the way robotics is altering the functional aspects of pathology practices, making them responsive and more trustworthy.
