A User-Centered Approach to Regulatory Compliance in Data Management: Designing Intuitive Assessment Tools for Personal Data Protection

The rapid growth of data generation and evolving regulatory requirements have heightened the need for effective compliance tools in personal data management. Existing solutions often prioritize technical functionality over usability, creating challenges for end-user. This study addresses this gap by proposing a user-centered design (UCD) framework for intuitive compliance assessment tools, focusing on internal user for healthcare and financial sectors. Through iterative prototyping and usability testing evaluated task completion rates, error handling, time efficiency, and satisfaction using a 4-point Likert scale. Results showed 85% satisfaction among internal users and 80% among professionals, with domain-specific users highlighting needs for improved navigation and error guidance. The findings demonstrate that UCD principles enhance usability while maintain regulatory consistency, offering a scalable approach to compliance tool design.
