Effect of blue light laser on human eye
In health care, it is critical to assess the effects of prolonged exposure of the human eye to various light sources. For instance, extended exposure to direct sunlight can pose significant risks to ocular health, particularly to the retina. Lasers are also widely used by optical engineers and medical professionals for eye treatments and surgeries; however, improper settings such as excessive power or prolonged exposure can lead to blurred or distorted vision and, in severe cases, permanent vision loss. In this study, we investigate the effects of exposure to both pulsed and continuous blue light lasers over varying time intervals and assess the resulting damage to the retina through the development of an automated workflow. Conducting a coupled real-time opto-thermal analysis enables further optimization of key laser parameters like wavelength, pulse duration, and beam size to maximize treatment effectiveness while ensuring patient safety.
