Phase-change materials for reconfigurable nanophotonic structures
This talk is focused on the unique features of phase-change materials (PCMs) for realization of ultracompact reconfigurable photonic structures. Integration of PCMs with dielectric, semiconducting, and plasmonic materials for creation of a unique platform for creation of reconfigurable metaphotonic structures with dynamic control over amplitude, phase, polarization, and spectral properties of an optical wavefront will be discussed. Both classes of volatile and nonvolatile PCMs will be covered and experimental evidence of the unique features of each class will be provided. Design, fabrication, and application of these platforms for state-of-the-art applications will be discussed.
