A Fracturing Technology That Does Not Damage the Screen and Liner
Abstract Completion by screen is the main completion method for horizontal wells in the Middle East. With the increase of production time of oil wells, more and more wells need hydraulic fracturing to maintain production. At present, screen fracturing technology will damage the screen pipe, destroy the stability of the well hole wall, and may cause serious sand production or well wall collapse. A fracturing method that does not damage the screen pipe is needed to realize the stimulation in these wells. Conventional proppant can not be used in the fracturing process of this technology. Fracturing fluid will be injected into the well, pass through the screen without any damage, and then forms solid particles with high strength in the formation. The particle size and the solidification time can be controlled by adjusting the formula of fracturing fluid according to the reservoir temperature and reservoir fluid. Non destructive fracturing of screen can be achieved through this technology. This technology can realize screen completion non-destructive fracturing at 30-90°C reservoir, and can form solid particles with diameter of 0.2-3.0 mm by changing the fracturing fluid formula. According to the laboratory test results, the liquid-solid conversion rate is greater than 80%. After the solid particles are formed, the rest liquid with the viscosity by less than 5mPa·s. The curing time of liquid particles is 15 minutes by minimum and 24 hours by maximum. According to the test results, the breaking rate of this proppant is less than 3%, the conductivity of 20/40 mesh particles is 1.2 μm2·cm, and the permeability is 2.1 μm2 under a closing pressure of 30 MPa. Non-destructive fracturing technology through screen pipe can realize fracturing without moving the string, without damaging the screen pipe and keeping the integrity of the well bore. After fracturing, re-fracturing can be carried out to ensure the continuous and stable production of the well.
