NEW TREND IN AZERBAIJAN-RUSSIAN RELATIONS: PROBLEMS AND SOLUTIONS

The rapidly accelerating global geopolitical confrontation is drawing more and more countries and regions into its orbit, and the South Caucasus is no exception. In these conditions, taking into account the special balanced foreign policy line of Baku in the international arena, as well as its leadership in the non-aligned system, Russia and Azerbaijan have a growing number of common points of contact on global issues on the international agenda, thereby creating new positive conditions for the development of Russian-Azerbaijani relations. However, in recent months, relations between the two countries have deteriorated due to the presence of some problems that require resolution. The article is devoted to the analysis of these problems and ways to overcome them. The study used historical, systemic, legal and structural-functional methods for a comprehensive analysis of bilateral relations. Finally, it was concluded that Azerbaijan’s neighbors, including Russia, must abandon outdated approaches to regional affairs and move toward cooperation in the face of looming external challenges.
