Development Of Logic For Providing To Achieve Weight Management Goals Aligned With Preferences And Interests
PURPOSE: Weight management (WM) is important for maintaining overall health by promoting a balance between energy intake and expenditure. The development of personalized WM mission logic, customized to individuals' preferences and interests, is crucial for enhancing effectiveness, engagement, retention, and long-term sustainability in WM programs. By aligning missions with individuals' unique preferences and interests, it increases adherence and success rates, as tasks become more enjoyable and meaningful. Therefore, the development of such a logic system is essential for effective, engaging, and sustainable WM programs that satisfy the diverse needs and motivations of the users. METHODS: This study developed a logic to enhance Samsung Health WM goal achievement content. A survey was conducted to gauge interests and preferences toward exercise and diet for WM. The survey comprised 10 questions (2 for weight, 4 for exercise, and 4 for diet) for user’s response to either ‘Yes’ or ‘No’. When responding ‘Yes’, 10 point was given. A total of 100 daily missions under categories of focusing exercise, diet, watch-use, and Samsung Health trackers. Missions include the user's goal (gain or loss weight, and changing body composition), schedule (weekday and/or weekend), and mission difficulty level (hard, normal, and/or easy). RESULTS: The higher score indicates greater interest in WM. The score of each exercise and diet preference was proportionally calculated and rounded totaling 100%. The daily mission performance analysis is designed to provide feedback on mission completion status. The weekly analysis builds upon the daily analysis and provide encouragement comments based on the frequency of success (5-7 times, 3-4 times, or 0-2 times/week). CONCLUSIONS: It would be anticipated that the use of the Samsung Health application and watch-based WM program would increase. The acquisition and collection of personal data are expected to enable detailed analysis for personalized health management program. Further refinement is required based on usability validation.
