Simulating the effects of physical shocks on optical performance with Ansys LS-DYNA and Zemax OpticStudio

By connecting Ansys Zemax OpticStudio with Ansys Workbench LS-DYNA, we have developed a workflow which expands STOP analysis to enable the study of the optical performance of an optomechanical system considering high strain rates such as impact or crashes. This presentation showcases a representative example of an impact on an imaging system of a smartphone camera.

Abstract

By connecting Ansys Zemax OpticStudio with Ansys Workbench LS-DYNA, we have developed a workflow which expands STOP analysis to enable the study of the optical performance of an optomechanical system considering high strain rates such as impact or crashes. This presentation showcases a representative example of an impact on an imaging system of a smartphone camera.
