Beams with transverse vortices
Transverse optical vortices, where phase singularities are oriented perpendicular to the beam propagation axis, provide new opportunities for structured light control. Unlike conventional vortex beams, these structures exhibit distinct phase and intensity distributions that influence beam propagation and interaction with structured media. While spatial light modulators (SLMs) and holography have been widely used for beam shaping, their application to transverse vortices remains underexplored. This talk will present experimental methods for generating and characterizing transverse vortices, highlighting their stability and potential applications in optical manipulation, metrology, and beam shaping, independent of their optical angular momentum (OAM) properties.
