Bibliometric Analysis of Scientific Research on Methane Emissions From Global Livestock Activityanálise

Objective: The objective of this study is to evaluate the focus of scientific articles and the most used terms over the period from 2018 to 2025 in international publications on the topic of enteric methane emissions in livestock production. Theoretical Framework: Livestock farming is one of the oldest human activities in society. It was through livestock farming that humans moved from nomadic to community based. This practice reflects the need for food security, culture, and a people's lifestyle. However, in recent years, due to climate change, livestock farming has come under great pressure in international forums and conferences due to its potential to contribute to greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and consequently, climate change. Method: The methodology adopted for this research involves applying the bibliometric review technique using the Biblishiny 5.0 algorithm implemented in R Studio. Data collection was performed using keyword searches in the Web of Science and Scopus databases from January 2018 to July 2025. Results and Discussion: The results revealed that the number of scientific articles published on the topic increased by 1.74% per year. Along with changes in the central idea and key terms, it was observed that the international scientific community began to treat the topic as something more strategic and less specific, as observed in the initial years of the analyzed period. Research Implications: The results obtained revealed that scientific articles published on the topic had an increase rate of 1.74% per year, along with changes in the central idea and key terms, it was observed that the international scientific community began to treat the topic as something more strategic and less punctual, as observed in the initial years of the period analyzed. Originality/Value: This study contributes to the literature by highlighting changes in the central terms used in discussions on the topic, leading to more strategic and assertive research. The relevance and value of this research are evidenced by the evolution of the terms used as keywords in these articles in more recent publications.
