Economia Moral e as greves dos entregadores (2020-2021): revolta coletiva diante do “empreendedorismo da subisistência”

The essay aims to summarize the theory of 20th-century English historian Edward P. Thompson and his analysis of famine riots in 18th-century England through his concept of Moral Economy, understood as a collective process of awareness about social injustices imposed on the working class. This concept is further explored within the context of labor informality imposed by neoliberal ideology, particularly in Brazil after the 1980s. In this way, the “apps strike” organized by delivery drivers in 2020 and 2021 opens up a new interpretation of a Moral Economy of informal workers as a result of job precariousness, promoted by outsourcing work and the loss of labor social rights for delivery drivers. Keywords: E.P. Thompson, Moral Economy, Informality, Apps strike, Precariousness.
