Resistência e conflito
This article analyzes the impact of the expansion of the Companhia de Álcool e Açúcar do Piauí (Comvap) on the community of Zundão dos Camilos, in Piauí, focusing on the socio-environmental implications. The aim is to understand how the expansion of sugar-energy agribusiness affects traditional practices and local sustainability. Using a qualitative approach, the study is based on interviews with residents and Comvap representatives, as well as analysis of documents and secondary data. The results show that sugarcane monoculture has caused deforestation, soil degradation and water reduction, damaging subsistence agriculture and exacerbating land conflicts. The conclusion is that it is essential to implement public policies that reconcile economic development with the protection of the rights of traditional communities and environmental preservation.
