Verification of experience of up-comparison with contrast emotions when using SNS according to the level of intimacy and self-esteem
This study verified the experience of contrast emotion and upward comparison when using SNS according to the level of pro-social relations and self-esteem in the 20s and 30s who use Instagram. In addition, the effect of the interaction between pro-social relations and self-esteem on contrast emotions and upward comparison experiences was revealed. A total of 200 people in their 20s and 30s who use Instagram were used for the final analysis. As a result of the study, contrast emotions are negatively felt more in estranged relationships than in close relationships. In the case of upward comparison experiences, it was found that they felt a lot of both close and estranged relationships. Low self-esteem was found to have a negative effect on contrast emotions and upward comparison experiences. The interaction effect between pro-social relations and self-esteem was found to be insignificant. In addition, it was found that those in their 20s and 30s felt contrast emotions and upward comparison experiences about situations in which others have good performance when using SNS. Through this, the importance of positive SNS use and self-esteem was presented to the age group who currently use SNS.
