Exploring 4D Seismic Detectability with Simulation Sensitivity Analysis
Summary We present a rock physics model-based simulation approach to 4D seismic sensitivity analysis. We estimate and then assess the ranges of acoustic impedance and Vp/Vs ratio changes based on a range of production scenarios combining varying saturation and reservoir pressure values. The value of outlier production scenarios and importance of conveying results of the seismic detectability efficiently to non-experts is discussed. Addressing the challenge of 4D noise effects on the overall chance of success for seismic detectability is explored using 3D simulation to seismic and 4D seismic data observations and communicated effectively via crossplots.
