The role of the magnetic part of the optical field in the optical control of the magnetization

Recently, we reported on an optically induced torque that emerges from the Zeeman energy arising from the optical magnetic field. Here, we show that the magnetic component of light reproduces additional signatures observed experimentally in the IFE. These include, for example, the dependence on the optical fluence and beam polarization state. Our findings highlight the role of the optical magnetic field in the interaction between light and spins in solid-state devices.

Abstract

Recently, we reported on an optically induced torque that emerges from the Zeeman energy arising from the optical magnetic field. Here, we show that the magnetic component of light reproduces additional signatures observed experimentally in the IFE. These include, for example, the dependence on the optical fluence and beam polarization state. Our findings highlight the role of the optical magnetic field in the interaction between light and spins in solid-state devices.
