Conceptual model of a spatial database for the waterfalls in Bulgaria

Waterfalls in Bulgaria are unique natural sites of national importance. In the context of GIS, they can be considered as spatial objects with a set of attributes and characteristics that are subject to systematization in a spatial database (SDB). Using geographic information systems (GIS) and spatial databases, an integrated and effective approach to managing and providing a certain level of access to data can be ensured, which will support the effective understanding of real-world objects. Since each area from the real world is unique, the development of a conceptual model for such a type of DB is the first and main step before its implementation. The aim of this study is to present a conceptual model for a spatial database to store and manage information about waterfalls in Bulgaria. The paper describes the spatial database design process, the structure of the feature classes, as well as the required functionalities.
