Optimized Intelligent Control Mechanism for Three Phase Grid Linked Solar Pv System
With the rapid increase in global energy demand, renewable energy sources such as solar photovoltaic (PV) systems integrated with the distribution grid have become increasingly significant. However, the growing penetration of PV systems into brittle distribution networks has introduced critical power quality (PQ) challenges. To address these issues, this study proposes an optimized intelligent control mechanism for enhancing the performance of three-phase grid-connected solar PV systems. A novel maximum power point tracking (MPPT) strategy based on the heap-based optimizer (HBO) is introduced to extract maximum energy from the PV array. Additionally, a generalized Fuzzy reasoning-based intelligent controller (GE-GFRIC), optimized using the golden Eagle algorithm, is developed to manage grid interfacing operations effectively. The proposed system is modeled and simulated in MATLAB/Simulink under various complex operating conditions, including nonlinear and unbalanced loads, voltage fluctuations, and sudden changes in solar irradiance. It is also tested under distorted and imbalanced grid voltage scenarios. Comparative analysis with conventional controllers demonstrates that the proposed approach significantly enhances PQ by reducing total harmonic distortion (THD), achieving effective load balancing, and maintaining grid current at a unity power factor.
