FEATURES OF EXPLICATION OF THE RESULTS OF THE GREAT PATRIOTIC WAR IN THE URBANОNYMICONS OF MEDIUM-SIZED CITIES OF BELARUS

To the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, the article reflects the results of a comparative study of the urbanonymicons of medium-sized and large Belarusian cities – Lida, chosen as the venue for the celebration of Belarusian Written Language Day in 2025, Mazyr, Vitsiebsk. Three of the seven thematic groups of nominative units common to the analyzed urbanonymicons of the three cities were identified – names of intra-city linear and territorial objects, given in honor of ordinary participants of the war, heroes of battles and victims; officers of the highest command; troops, units and formations. It was determined that each urbanonymicon has its own relationship between the names that explain the results of the Great Patriotic War; at the same time, medium-sized cities in terms of population are characterized by a much higher percentage of names of the analyzed groups (in Mazyr – 25.5%, or 41; in Lida – 16.6%, or 61) compared to large ones (in Vitebsk – 7.4%, or 73), which indicates the dominance of the regional component over the national one in the nominative practice of this category of cities.
