Mangrove forest in the urban landscape
Mangrove forests are among the most vulnerable ecosystems of the coastal zone of the seas. To protect them, reserves and natural parks have been created in many tropical countries, however, such parks are usually located far from populated areas. A rare example of the inclusion of mangrove vegetation areas in the urban environment is described for the city of Sanya (Hainan Island, China), along with a brief outline of the features of the biology of mangroves and the ecological role of mangrove vegetation.
