Structural features of haliotis shells

The article examines the features of haliotis shells, which stand out from the huge variety of marine shells of mollusks in a bright mother-of-pearl color. Due to their structure, they have unique mechanical properties. It can be assumed that the formation of the shell structure of haliotis took place in extreme habitat conditions. Such an environment may be the coastal zone in which Haliotis iris lives, with active wave activity, tidal and coastal currents.
