The Effect of Receiver Tube Installation on COP Efficiency and Electricity Consumption in Air Conditioning Systems on Ships
A good working environment is important for the crew to work with high efficiency and a clear mind. A less-than-optimal air conditioning system can cause discomfort and decreased productivity, especially in closed spaces such as cabins and workspaces. Air Conditioner (AC) performance is necessary so that the output temperature remains optimal and electrical power is more efficient. In order to save electricity with optimum performance, it is required to install some kind of device to lighten the work of the compressor. This tool is a receiver tube. However, the most efficient receiver tube length for electricity with a good Coefficient of Performance (COP) has not been found yet. This research aims to test the effect of variations in receiver tube length on AC Split ½ PK on COP and electrical power consumption. The method used is to carry out experiments by measuring AC performance after the receiver tube is installed. The two variations in receiver tube length tested have been 120 mm and 170 mm. The data collected include the inlet and the outlet pressure and the temperature of the refrigerant as well as the electrical energy consumption. Then the data obtained from the experiment has been calculated for electrical power and COP. Receiver Tube variations with a tube length of 120 mm have the highest COP value from the 60-minute test, namely 44.5. For the receiver tube electricity consumption, by varying the tube length to 120 mm, the result is 198 W.
