La società degli spettacoli. Parole e immagini: un’arma che cambia il mondo

Starting from words and images, the article analyzes contemporary society through the lens of the “Society of the Spectacle”. Modern society represents an extension of consumer capitalism and modern technological development. As a problem of social relations, it is dominated by the “quality” of knowledge of reality in the domain of words and images, which often, driven by interests, distort tradi-tional values and create illusions that replace reality. Unlike previous societies, in this one human capital — that is, knowledge — becomes central, and its production is primarily defined by human-to-human rela-tions. Work is carried out through computers and technological communications, the market becomes unlimited in space and time, and relationships between people become blurred. In opening this issue, the text initiates the need for an in-depth analysis of con-temporary society and the role of words and images within it, especially from the perspective of security sciences. As a problem for these sciences, the production of needs and human motivation for various activities in the development of produc-tion and social relations appear here.
