Comprehensive geriatric assessment as a basis for fall prevention in older patients with osteosarcopenia at the primary health care level.

Population ageing is accompanied by an increasing prevalence of geriatric syndromes, among which falls in patients with osteosarcopenia are of particular importance, as they lead to disability and increased mortality. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of a geriatric care model based on comprehensive geriatric assessment (CGA) in preventing falls among olderwomen in the setting of a city polyclinic. A total of 129 female patients over 60 years of age were included and divided into three groups: supervised therapeutic exercise with nutritional support and regular monitoring, independent exercise, and a control group that received only standard recommendations. The most significant results were achieved in the supervised exercise group, which demonstrated a marked improvement in muscle strength, physical functionality, and an 18.6% reduction in the incidence of falls. Participants in the independent exercise group showed moderate positive changes, whereas the control group exhibited a decline in functional outcomes. These findings highlight the high relevance of a comprehensive multidisciplinary approach to fall prevention and justify the need for wide implementation of CGA in outpatient geriatric practice as an effective tool for maintaining the quality of life of older patients.
