Bimaterial Green’s Function for Transient and Time-Harmonic Heat Transfer Revisited

Abstract This paper revisits the derivation of Green's function for transient and time-harmonic heat transfer in bimaterials. Using the two-dimensional Fourier and Laplace transform, an explicit Green's function can be obtained in the transformed domain, which is validated against the bimaterial dual-reciprocity boundary element method. Closed-form Green's functions in the Cartesian space are derived for two special cases, a bimaterial with equal thermal diffusivity and one material with zero or infinite conductivity, respectively. The second one can be reduced to a semi-infinite material with adiabatic or uniform temperature boundary condition along the surface.
