Disturbance Observe Based Model Predictive Frequency Controller for Virtual Power Plant
With the rapid increase in the penetration rate of new energy sources, the traditional frequency control mode that relies on power plants is facing severe challenges in new power systems with a high proportion of new energy sources. The intermittent nature and low inertia of new energy sources have highlighted the gap in grid frequency regulation capabilities, urgently requiring innovative control strategies to integrate diversified resources. This paper proposes a Model Predictive Control (MPC) coordination strategy based on Virtual Power Plant (VPP) aggregation and Disturbance Observer (DOB) to convert distributed energy, energy storage, and flexible loads into frequency support units that can be coordinated and controlled through the construction of a regional VPP, thereby addressing the problem of insufficient frequency control resources in the system. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed strategy significantly improves the system frequency response speed, enhances robustness, and validates its effectiveness in frequency control in high-penetration renewable energy power systems.
