Enhancing Flexibility for Coal-Fired Power Plant via Integrated Pulverized Coal Silo System

Reducing delays in the fuel supply of coal-fired power plants is crucial for improving their operational flexibility. This study involved designing a pulverized coal silo system and developing a model to integrate it with a 1000 MW supercritical coal-fired power plant. The simulation results indicated that the ramp rate of the coal-fired power plant can be increased from 2.5%Pe/min to 5%Pe/min. Additionally, the mass flow of the pulverized coal silo shows a trend of increasing first and then decreasing during the load-increasing period. The volume of the pulverized coal silo was designed to be 40.0 m3. This study demonstrates that the integration of a pulverized coal silo significantly enhances the ramp rate of coal-fired power plants and provides valuable design insights for its applications.
