Analytical Modeling and Parametric Analysis of Halbach Permanent Magnet Array Considering Installation Gap
To address the impact of Halbach permanent magnet (PM) installation gap on the fundamental amplitude and total harmonic distortion (THD) of the air-gap flux density in permanent magnet linear synchronous motor (PMLSM), this paper establishes an analytical model incorporating the pole-arc coefficient. The accuracy of the model is validated through finite element analysis (FEA). Based on the proposed model, the influence of two sets of coupled parameters—PM thickness with the pole-arc coefficient, and PM thickness with the radial PM width coefficient—on the fundamental amplitude and THD is analyzed. Furthermore, to select the optimal radial PM width coefficient and pole-arc coefficient for each thickness, an advantageous coefficient is established by simultaneously considering the fundamental amplitude and THD. Finally, the PMLSM is optimized based on the advantageous value, resulting in only a 6.76% reduction in fundamental amplitude and a 78.56% reduction in THD, with the amount of PM material maintained and installation difficulty reduced.
