Research on the Scheme for Non-outage Reconstruction of GIS Substations

In the current process of upgrading power systems, the expansion and renovation projects of gas insulated switchgear (GIS) substations face significant challenges due to power outages. To improve the reliability of power supply of the power grid and shorten the duration and scope of power outages during transformation, scientific transformation of GIS substations has become a current research focus. Based on a detailed analysis and study of the existing expansion measures for 220 kV GIS substations, this paper explores the feasibility of expansion without power interruption for GIS substations and summarizes the existing expansion methods without power interruption for whole interval expansion and reserved interval expansion. Through comparative research, this paper finds that the scheme of reserving double circuit breaker isolating switches at the expansion port in the reserved interval expansion method complies with the existing general design requirements of the State Grid Corporation of China. This approach can meet possible future expansion needs and achieve non-stop reconstruction, providing valuable guidance for similar projects.
