A 10MHz 2-phase Buck Converter based on Current Mode Constant On-time Control
This paper presents a 10MHz 2-phase buck converter based on pulse distributor multiphase current-mode constant on-time(CMCOT) control, which can improve light-load performance, enhance rapid transient response, and simplify phase interleaving. The converter is designed and simulated in a 55nm BCD process with an input voltage range of 3-8V and the output voltage range of 0.6-3.3V.The simulation results demonstrate that the system can operate across a load range from 0 to 10A, with the switching frequency being reduced from 10 MHz in CCM to 103 kHz in DCM. The converter proposed an undershoot voltage of 50mV and recovery time of 1.7µs during a load transient from 2A to 10A within 0.5µs. The design can achieve a peak efficiency of 96.2% when the input is 6V and the output is 1.2V.
