Fault Ride-Through Method for Receiving-End Converter Stations of VSC-HVDC Considering the Adjacent Wind Turbines
Existing low-voltage ride-through (LVRT) strategies for voltage source converter-based high-voltage direct current (VSC-HVDC) receiving-end converter stations prioritize reactive power support, exacerbating active power imbalances and frequency fluctuations, causing disconnection of adjacent wind turbines This paper proposes a dual-objective optimization method targeting the port voltage at the point of common coupling (PCC) and the rate of change of frequency (RoCoF). By integrating power flow equations and LVRT control rules, a transfer model linking VSC-HVDC power adjustments to voltage/frequency dynamics is established. The NSGA-II algorithm generates optimal power commands under grid constraints, reducing PCC voltage deviation from 3.5% to 0.8% and RoCoF from 0.50 Hz/s to 0.15 Hz/s in the IEEE 39-node system. Case studies validate the method’s efficacy in maintaining wind turbine grid connection during faults.
