Ultrawideband and Wide-Angle RCS Reduction of Antenna Array Using Dual-Layer Miniaturized Polarization Conversion Metasurface
A miniaturized dual-layer metasurface designed to achieve ultra-wideband and wide-angle radar cross-section (RCS) reduction for antenna arrays is presented in this letter. By arranging compact polarization conversion metasurfaces (PCMs) in a checkerboard configuration, ultra-wideband RCS reduction with angular stability (0°–60°) is realized. The integration of the metasurface with the slot antenna yields excellent radiation performance, characterized by a wide impedance bandwidth of 44.0% (4.6–7.2 GHz) and a peak gain of 11.9 dBi at 6.9 GHz. Furthermore, due to the small-sized PCMs in the checkerboard arrangement, under far-field linearly polarized plane wave incidence, the proposed design maintains an RCS reduction exceeding 6 dB over a relative bandwidth of more than 90%, even for incident angles up to 60°.
