Synthesis and oxidation of Ru-doped UO2
Abstract Ru-doped UO 2 materials were synthesized via a sol–gel method and the resulting compounds were subjected to an oxidative heat treatment at 1000 °C. Both as-synthesized and oxidized materials were characterized coupling microscopy, diffraction and spectroscopic techniques. A detailed structural description of the studied compounds is provided. The oxidation of UO 2 to U 3 O 8 is complete within the investigated atmosphere and Ru is oxidized to volatile oxide forms. Graphical abstract
