Analysis of mortality incidence and risk factors in patients with renal failure undergoing dialysis treatment within five years

Currently, the most common renal replacement therapy is undoubtedly dialysis. Adequate and effective dialysis not only improves the quality of life for patients but also reduces complications from renal failure and delays the further deterioration of kidney function. This study explores the related mortality risk factors for patients with renal failure undergoing dialysis treatment for 5 years, aiming to provide clinical physicians with a reference for improving the survival rate of dialysis patients. A retrospective analysis was conducted on 119 patients who underwent dialysis treatment for renal failure from July 2011 to October 2019. Baseline data and pre- and post-dialysis data were collected. A comparison was made between the survival group and the death group within 5 years of dialysis treatment. Additionally, univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were performed to identify the risk factors leading to mortality during dialysis treatment. The 5-year mortality rate for patients undergoing dialysis treatment for renal failure was 41.18% (49/119). Statistical differences were found between the survival group and the death group in terms of age (P < .001) and pre-dialysis blood creatinine (P = .002). Univariate and multivariate regression analyses identified age (P < .001) and pre-dialysis blood creatinine (P = .004) as risk factors for mortality in dialysis patients. Furthermore, age (P = .005) and pre-dialysis blood creatinine level (P = .027) were determined to be independent risk factors for mortality in patients undergoing dialysis treatment for 5 years. Age and pre-dialysis blood creatinine level are independent risk factors for mortality in patients undergoing dialysis treatment for 5 years.
