Smart city role in disaster management using GIS (Gaza City as case study)
In the era of smart cities and the Internet of Things (IoT), technology has significantly enhanced disaster management, enabling more effective mitigation of its impacts. This paper aims to develop a smart system and application for managing various types of disasters. The study employs multiple research approaches, including descriptive, analytical, deductive, and decision-making methodologies, to achieve its objectives. The proposed system integrates smart technologies such as IoT, real-time data processing, and Geographic Information System layers to improve disaster response efficiency. This smart system and application can assist cities and municipalities in managing different disasters, including floods, conflicts, and pandemics, as well as optimizing routine municipal operations such as waste management and infrastructure maintenance.
