The Netherlands has for some years enjoyed a standing in aviation out of proportion to its relatively modest size, and perhaps more reminiscent of the important position the country held in the international maritime market in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. This standing is demonstrated in three, different but interlinked, ways:1.
