The effect of Iso-inertial flywheel training on hip eccentric strength and its impact on Suplex technique success in senior Greco-Roman wrestlers

Background: The suplex technique in Greco-Roman wrestling requires exceptional hip eccentric strength for controlled execution and safe landing. Iso-inertial flywheel training offers a unique approach to develop eccentric strength through variable resistance and overload mechanisms that closely match the biomechanical demands of wrestling techniques. Objective: This study aimed to investigate the effects of iso-inertial flywheel training on hip eccentric strength and its impact on suplex technique success in senior Greco-Roman wrestlers. Methods: Twenty-four senior Greco-Roman wrestlers (aged 23-28 years) from four wrestling clubs in Kirkuk were randomly assigned to experimental group (n=12) receiving iso-inertial flywheel training, and control group (n=12) following traditional strength training. The 10-week intervention included 3 sessions per week of progressive flywheel training targeting hip extensors and flexors. Measurements included hip eccentric strength (isokinetic dynamometry), suplex success rate, execution quality, and landing control assessment. Results: The experimental group demonstrated significant improvements compared to the control group (p
